Bills fire offensive coordinator Dennison

The Buffalo Bills fired offensive coordinator Rick Dennison after just one season, the team announced Friday.

The move comes one week after the Bills made their first playoff appearance in 18 years. They failed to score a touchdown and mustered 263 yards (133 passing, 130 rushing) in that outing en route to a 10-3 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

Dennison joined Buffalo shortly after Sean McDermott was hired as the team's head coach last year. Under the watch of the 59-year-old Dennison, the Bills finished 31st in passing offense (176.6), 29th in total yards (302.6) and 22nd in points (18.9).

The 2018 season will mark the fourth offensive coordinator change for the Bills since 2014, with Anthony Lynn (2016), Greg Roman (2015-2016) and Nathanial Hackett (2013-2014) on that list.

Dennison served as offensive coordinator with the Denver Broncos (2006-08, 2015-16) and with the Houston Texans (2010-13). He also was hired to coach the quarterbacks for the Baltimore Ravens in 2014.

A linebacker for the Broncos from 1982-90, Dennison began his coaching tenure with the club in 1995 and held various roles with the team, including offensive assistant (1995-96), special teams coordinator (1997-2000) and offensive line coach (2001-05, 2009).
