Brooklyn Nets at Philadelphia 76ers
The NBA playoffs are officially underway, and things are not necessarily going how we expected them to after the first batch of games. Yes, we had a couple of favorites go down in their opening games, but since this is a series and not a single game, there is still plenty of time for things to turn around and for normalcy to be restored. One of the surprises from the first set of games was the Brooklyn Nets going into Philadelphia 111-102 in Game 1 of that series.
While it will go down as a win for the underdog, perhaps we shouldn’t be totally surprised that the Nets were able to go in and get the win, as these two split their 4-game regular season series, with Brooklyn being one of the few teams to go into Philly and get a win in the regular season. The pressure is now squarely on the 76ers for Game 2, which will go on Monday night, as heading out on the road with an 0-2 deficit is not where any team want to be. Philadelphia are in as an 8 point favorite for this one, with the point total set at 226.

Why bet on the Brooklyn Nets
The Brooklyn Nets were certainly full value for their Game 1 win, which was one that we should have perhaps seen coming. They finished the regular season on a bit of a high note, closing things out with 3 straight wins, 2 of which came on the road.
One of those wins was in Milwaukee against the Eastern Conference champions, and while the Bucks had already clinched and were resting guys up, it was still the type of victory that tends to serve as a confidence builder. It’s still a bit of a surprise that Brooklyn got the win in the opening game, though, as this is a team that went 3 games under .500 on the road in the regular season. That said, they were a solid pick on the road against the spread, where their record now stands at 21-15 as a road dog.

Why bet on the Philadelphia 76ers
It was no real surprise to see the 76ers in as a favorite for the opener in this series. After all, they were the higher seeded team, plus they were starting out at home, where they were a stellar 31-10 this season. Things are always different in the playoffs, though, as the pressure gets stepped up a few notches and teams can fold under the weight.
This is certainly not to suggest that the 76ers are done here, as there is a better than average chance that they bounce back and win this game, as well as the whole series. They have not been in the best of form, though, and have now lost 5 of their last 7 games, heading back into the regular season. They are an even 20-20 ATS as a home favorite.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
As a bettor, one of the things that you look for in the NBA playoffs is the game after a favorite loses, especially at home. Taking them to win the next game up usually means money in the bank, so let’s stick with the 76ers here.
