Welcome to our User Guide. This page will be updated frequently, and offers information regarding the most common settings questions.


GETTING STARTED
          SETTING UP VI ODDS



    NOTE:
    Java Plugin
    The new Live Odds service requires a java plugin. You can get the latest Java plugin by clicking the button to the right or by going to http://www.java.com. You can also easily verify java version installed on our computer.
     

    Logging into VegasInsider.com's Odds
    • Go to My Insider and click the Live Odds link.
    • Accept any security warnings that pop up.
    • Once the VI Odds Login opens, enter your username and password and click the Login button.
    • Enter your credit card information.
    • Tip: To save your username and/or password, check the Save Username and/or Save Password options.


    Selecting Sportsbooks - Odds Column Setup

    The Column Setup is used to add, remove and arrange the columns on your Odds Screen. You can position columns to be fixed on the left or right of your odds window, or in the scroll section. Fixed columns will always be visible on your odds window and scroll columns will move left and right when you scroll horizontally.

    Note: By default, all sports will use the settings. If you change the settings for a sports group (Football, Basketball, etc) all of the individual sports in that group will use those settings (NFL, NBA, etc). If you change the settings for an individual sport, only that sport will use those settings. To get started, go to the menu and select

    Column Setup

    < Available columns> are divided into 2 sections, and

  • Game lines
  • Opening lines
  • First half lines
  • Money lines
  • Run lines
  • Puck lines
    • Use the line type checkboxes to include each line type in the Sportsbook columns. When you check a checkbox for a line type, that line type will be included for each sportsbook in the Note: To add opening lines from any sportsbook, check the checkbox and then add the column. Most users add the opening line columns to the section.

      Adding or removing columns from your Odds Screen:

      1. Select next to any sport group name to view individual sports for that group.
      2. If you select a sport group or individual sport, the checkbox must be checked to be able to make changes.
      3. Select the section (Fixed left, Scroll or Fixed right) you want to change by either clicking the radio button for the section or clicking directly on the section.
      4. To add a column:
        • From the section, click on the column name you want to add and click the > button. You can also double click the column name. If you want to add the column to a specific spot in the section, first click the column name in the above which you want to insert the new column, and then add the column.
        • After adding a column, you can use the or button to change the position of the column.
      5. To remove a column:
        • Click on the column name in the and click the <<-Remove> button. You can also double click the column name.

      Other options:

      1. Displayed Column Size - This setting changes the size of the sportsbook columns displayed on your odds window. If you select
      2. Reset all columns - Click this button to reset the size of all columns for the selected sport. Columns will be reset to the size selected in the
      3. Combine Details and Scores - When this option is selected, the Details column will display the detail icons for each game before the game starts and then will display the score after the game starts.

      To save your settings, click the or button. To exit the Column Setup without saving your changes, click the button.




      Font Setup

      The Font Setup is used to select the type, style and size of font you want to use. To get started, click on the "Setup" menu and choose "Fonts". This will open the Font Setup Window.

      • Once you have made your selections, click on "OK" to save your changes and close to the "Font Setup".
      • Click on "Cancel" to exit the "Font Setup" without saving your changes.
      • Note: Some fonts do not work well with RXO. It is recommended that you use a standard font and regular or bold style. Size can be set to fit your needs, but any size over 18 will seriously reduce the amount of information displayed in the Odds Window.



      Color Setup

      The Color Setup is used to change the colors of items on your Odds Screen. You can change the colors of:

      • Line changes
      • Games in progress, final, postponed and at halftime
      • Highlighted cells, rows and columns
      • Money lines

      To get started, go to the "Setup" menu and select "Colors", this will open the Color Setup.

      Select the "Line Changes" tab. Here you can set the colors used to highlight incoming line changes. You have the option to use up to 4 different colors for line changes and can set how long changes are highlighted in each color. In the example above, changes are highlighted in red when first received, and stay red for 1 minute. Changes are then highlighted in yellow from 1 to 3 minutes, green from 3 to 5 minutes and then in black until they are cleared using one of the Clear options.

      To change a color, either click on one of the "Available Colors" or click "Other" for more color options. The color you select will be displayed under "Current Colors". If you do not want to use multiple colors for incoming line changes you can select the same color for each of the available colors.

      To change the timeframe for each color, use the 3 dropdowns to set the length of time. Setting a timeframe to the same setting as the one above it will effectively skip that timeframe. For example, if you want incoming line changes to be highlighted in red for 1 minute and then change to black until they are cleared, you would set all 3 timeframes to 1.0.

      Click "Apply" or "Save" to save your changes. Click "Cancel" to exit without saving your changes.

      Games Colors

      Color Setup Games

      Select the "Game" tab. Here you can set the colors used for games that are started, final, postponed and at halftime. Use the "Background color" and "Font color" buttons to change the settings for each option. Click the "Default" button to return an option to the default colors.

      Click "Apply" or "Save" to save your changes. Click "Cancel" to exit without saving your changes.

      Highlights

      Color Setup Highlights

      Select the "Highlights" tab. Here you can set the colors used for highlighting cells, rows and columns. Use the "Background color" and "Font color" buttons to change the settings for each option. Click the "Default" button to return an option to the default colors.

      The colors set on the "Highlights" tab will be used when an item is initially highlighted. To change the color of an individually highlighted item:

      1. Right click on the item to bring up the menu
      2. On the menu, go to "Highlight"
      3. Select "Set color for cell", "Set color for row" or "Set color for column"
      4. Select the background and/or font color for the item
      5. Click "Apply" or "Save"

      Click "Apply" or "Save" to save your changes. Click "Cancel" to exit without saving your changes.


      Show Dates Setup

      The Show Date options lets you either display or hide the date for each event.

      • To display the date for each individual game, click on the menu and select
      • Follow the same procedure to remove the dates from each individual game.



      Baseball Lines

      For baseball games, you can choose to display both the favorite and underdog (take-back) odds or just the favorite odds.
      • To display both odds, click on the "Setup" menu and select "Show baseball take-backs".
      • Follow the same procedure to hide the underdog (take-back) odds.



      Max View

      The Max View button is used to display more columns on the Odds Window.

      When you click on the button, the

      • The "Clear Tab" button will clear all of the highlighted changes for the selected Tab.
      • The "Clear All" button will clear all of the highlighted changed for all Tabs.
      • The "Clear Visible" button will clear all of the highlighted changes that are currently in view.
      • The "Clear Event" option will clear all of the highlighted changes for the selected event. This option can be selected by right-clicking on an event and selecting "Clear Event".
      • The "Clear Column" option will clear all of the highlighted changes for the selected column. This option can be selected by right-clicking on an event and selecting "Clear Column.



      Critical Notices

      Critical Notices are popup messages that are used to display important information, such as breaking injuries. When a Critical Message is sent out, you will see a popup message:

      Clicking the 'Notices' button will open a window with all of the Critical Notices for the current day:

      Notifications

      Note: After a Critical Notice is sent out, you will see an 'N' in the Details column for the game. Clicking on the 'N' will open a window with all of the Critical Notices sent out for that game. You can also access this information by right-clicking on any game and selecting 'Notices'

      By default, you will receive all Critical Notices that are sent out. To change your setting for Critical Notices, go to the setup menu and click 'Sounds and Alerts'. Here you can change what sports you want to see messages for and also set the popup and audio alert settings




      Details Column Abbrevations

      The Details column gives you quick access to important information for each game. When there is information available, you will see a letter in the Details column that represents the information:

      • D - Miscellaneous details about the game.

      • I - All injuries for both teams. Games with new information will have 'I+'.

      • W - Weather information

      • T - TV listings. For quick access, the TV listings will be displayed in a small window if you place your mouse over the 'T'.

      • L - Lineups for both teams. For hockey games, a 'G' will be displayed when the starting goalies are listed.

      • O - Officials for the game. For baseball, a 'U' will be displayed for umpires.

      • B - Final boxscore for the game.

      • N - All Critical Notices sent for the game.

      When you place your mouse over any of the letters in the Details column, you will see the time-stamp of the last information that was entered.

      Note: You can also access all of the available information for games by right-clicking on any game and making your selection from the popup menu.


      Find

      To search for a specific team name or game number, click on the "Find" button and enter the information you want to find. If your selection is found, the event will be displayed and will flash.


      Key Moves

      Key Moves are big line movements, indicating a large amount of betting on a game. You can set your Key Move alert settings to your own criteria so that you only receive the alerts you want.


      Odds Watch

      If you are waiting for a specific line on a game, you can enter an Odds Watch and you will be alerted when the line is available.


      Printing

      The Print feature allows you to print information from your odds window. You use the Print Setup to select the columns that you want to print.

      Note: The program will print games for whatever Tab you have selected when you click the Print button. For example, if you have the Football Tab selected, all of the football games on the schedule will be included in your print.

      To get started, click the Print button, this will open the Print Setup:

      1. Select the columns you want to print. The "Available Columns" section includes information columns such as Team names, Date/Time, Scores, etc. The "Sportsbooks" section includes all of the available sportsbooks. Note: Use the checkboxes above the "Sportsbooks" section to include or exclude line types for each sportsbook in the section.
        • From either "Available Columns" or "Sportsbooks", click the column name and then click the "Add->" button. You can also double-click on the column name.
        • To add a blank column to your print setup, click the "Add Blank" button. You can add as many blank columns as you need.
        • To change the order of a column in the "Displayed Columns", click on the column name and use the "Move Up" and "Move Down" buttons.

      2. Select the date for the games you want to print. You can select a specific date, or "All Dates" to view all games on the Tab.
      3. Set the "Other Options".
        • "Show game separators" This option will insert a black line in-between each game.
        • "Shade alternate games" This option will shade every-other game.
        • "Paper orientation and size" Use this option to set how your pages will be printed. It is important to select the correct setting to ensure that your pages print correctly. If you are not using standard size paper, select "Other" and then enter the size in pixels that you want to use.

          For example, 825 is the number of pixels used for portrait printing and 600 for landscape printing. If you have a different size of paper/orientation you will need to put the number of pixels in the "other" box.

        • "Sort order" Use this option to set the order of the games to be printed
          1. "Default order" will print the games ordered by game number.
          2. "Time order" will print the games ordered by game time.
          3. "Time order group by sport" will print the game first grouped by sport and then ordered by time.

      4. Click "Save/Print". Your pages will open in your internet browser where you can complete the print process.

        Note: If you want your pages to print in color, you may need to adjust some print settings in your browser:

        • Internet Explorer:
          1. From the "Tools" menu, select "Internet Options".
          2. Click the "Advanced" tab.
          3. Scroll to the "Printing" selections and check the "Print background colors and images" checkbox.

        • Mozilla Firefox:
          1. From the "File" menu, select "Page Setup".
          2. Check the "Print Background (colors & images)" checkbox.

      Shortcut Keys

      The Shortcut Keys Setup is used to add or remove keyboard shortcuts on your Odds Window.

      Keyboard shortcuts allow you to perform common functions by simply pressing a key on your keyboard.

      To get started, go to the "Setup" menu and select "Shortcut keys", this will open the Shortcut keys Setup:

      To assign a shortcut key:

      1. From the "Functions" or "Tabs" section, click on the item you want to setup the shortcut for.
      2. In the "Shortcut-keys" section, click on the shortcut key you want to assign.
      3. Click the "Assign -->" button.
      4. Repeat for each of the shortcut keys you want to assign.
      5. Click the "Save" button.

      To remove a shortcut key:

      1. In the "Shortcut-keys assigned" section, click the shortcut key you want to remove.
      2. Click the "Remove <--" button.
      3. Click the "Save" button.

      To exit without saving your changes, click the "Cancel" button.


      Steam Plays

      A Steam Play is when a large betting syndicate makes a play on a game. VegasInsider.com tracks Steam Plays so you can easily follow the pros. To view Steam Plays click on the 'Steam Plays' button:

      By default, the plays for the current week will displayed. To see other plays, select the dates you want to see and click the 'Get Plays' button. You can also sort the plays by date/time of the plays or by game number.

      Tabs (sports)

      Tabs are used to display events for sports (NFL, NBA, etc) and sports groups (Football, Basketball, etc). The Tabs Setup is used to add, remove and arrange the Tabs on your Odds Screen.

      To set started, go to the "Setup" menu and select "Tabs", this will open the Tab Setup Window:

      Adding or removing Tabs from your Odds Screen:

      1. To add a Tab:
        • From the "Available Tabs", click on the Tab name and click the "Add->" button. You can also double click the Tab name. If you want to add the Tab to a specific spot in the "Displayed Tabs", first click on the Tab name that you want to insert the new Tab ahead of, and then add the Tab.
        • After adding a Tab, you can use the "Move Up" or "Move Down" button to change the position of the Tab.
      2. To remove a Tab:
        • Click on the Tab name and click the "<-Remove" button. You can also double click the tab name.

      Displaying In-game lines and Series prices:

      1. To include In-game lines:
        • Check the "Include in sports tabs" option to show in-game lines on your sports tabs.
        • Check the "Include in Today tab" option to show in-game lines on your Today tab.
      2. To include Series prices:
        • Check the "Include in sports tabs" option to show series prices on your sports tabs.
        • Check the "Include in Today tab" option to show series prices on your Today tab.

      Today Tab

      The Today Tab displays events that are scheduled for the current day. You change the sports that are included on the Today tab by clicking the "Setup Today Tab" button, this will open the Today Tab setup:

      Adding or removing Tabs from the Today Tab:

      1. To add a Tab:
        • From the "Available Tabs", click on the Tab name and click the "Add->" button. You can also double click the Tab name
      2. To remove a Tab:
        • Click on the Tab name and click the "<-Remove" button. You can also double click the tab name.

      By default, events that are scheduled through 3:00 AM the next day will be included on the Today Tab. Use the "Cut-off time for games on the Today tab" option to change this time.

      Viewing Odds

      After logging into VegasInsider.com's Odds the program will open and display odds. You can use Tabs to view different sports and MyViews to view just the events you select.

      You can use the Line-type dropdown to view other line-types such as moneylines, first-half lines and opening lines.

        You can use the Line-type dropdown to view other line-types such as moneylines, first-half lines and opening lines.

        To change the line-type you are viewing, click on the dropdown and select the line-type you want to view.

        To have a Tab always display a specific line-type:

        • Click on the Tab
        • Select the line-type
        • From the menu, select
      • Opening
      • Odds Viewing Halftime Odds
        When an event goes to halftime, the background of the event will turn blue and the halftime odds will automatically be displayed in place of the game odds.

        You can also view halftime odds by selecting <2nd Half> from the dropdown.
